Today is the day I was planning to draw the winners from our Women Fly event, for the inspiring book Fly Girl. But due to the fact I am at the Women in Aviation Conference... and time is flying by, I will post the names on Monday... the same day we will thank our pilots for sharing their time and planes for our incredible event.
Later this afternoon I will be interviewing scholarship recipients for the ISA scholarship. You will also find me having fun talking to all those in love with aviation. Thousands of people are mingling, connecting, and networking.
Yesterday was a great time meeting many people and connecting with old friends. Catching up. Gossiping. Talking about the industry. Talking about Flight For Control. But... there is something going on that has not happened at any of the other Women of Aviation Conferences that I've attended.
Can you guess what it is?
To all pilots who are at the 2013 Women in Aviation Conference looking for a flying job with the airline of your choice... I wish you all the best! You will make it, and I hope to fly with you one day.
It's not a matter of "if" but "when"
Patience. Perseverance. Commitment.
Have a Great Weekend!
XO Karlene
Hm! I guess the conference had more women audience than any other,..you really make this blog lovely,a day cannot pass without reading its posts! Madam it is me Kelvin Pella, check my tweets to you...congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Kelvin. Yes... we might know that this is a Women in Aviation conference. Lots of energy. Thank you for your comment!
DeleteMadam! Do me a favor, your novel Flight for success,I need to get one...but don't expect any coins from me! I know you said part of profit for aviation schools, consider me an exception! I'm an international student dreaming of becoming just like you controlling airbuses...no airbus shouts at your presence..hahaa congratulations!
DeleteKelvin... do me a favor and work hard, save your money and fly a plane. Spend your energy working toward your dream. And, I will do you a favor and get my flight to Success book written.
DeleteAhhh! So now I know what they mean by the black suits! I was speaking with a pilot on a brief overnight layover and mentioned that if he were to attend that he would dress in his black suit.
ReplyDeleteHave fun interviewing and most of all have a great weekend! Xo
Yes... lots of "men" in black. Where are the women?? :)
DeleteThanks for the comment!
Have fun Karlene! This weekend it's a year since I traveled to Seattle for 26 hours lol. See you soon!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it's been a year! And... I was just telling someone about that today. No wonder it came to my mind.
DeleteI would have thought that male escorts would look different.
ReplyDeleteYes... they come in all shapes and sizes. In black.
DeleteThanks for your comment!
Hi Captain... hehe
ReplyDeleteI love all the pics... so many lady pilot out there :D
I will be one of the joining force oneday. Soon!!!
Mokomia... one day you will be there one day. I have no doubt!
DeleteSounds like you're having a great time, and who knew all those men would show up??? Are they there just to enjoy meeting and greeting, or are they interviewing?
ReplyDeleteYes... who knew? They are there for one purpose only. Which is kind of sad... they are losing the essence of the conference.
DeleteYes ... it most certainly is a matter of WHEN and not IF! There is more power and responsibility in when, we take control of our own success and don't delegate it to anyone else :-D
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the interviewing and the conference!
Thank you Michelle. We missed you!!! Next time for sure... I hope. See you then?
DeleteI flew through Nashville today and had the opportunity to speak to a number of women who attended the conference. They all had wonderful things to say but noticed the same demographic you depict in the pictures:) I had a very nice woman on the Jumpseat who flew with you at Northwest. We had a truly enjoyable conversation. I'm sorry I missed out on all the fun!
ReplyDeleteYes... a different demographic for sure. I wish you could have dropped by. Who was in your jumpseat. I got to meet a lot of old... NWA people today. And many new Delta. A ton of fun.
DeleteHer name is Charlene...I don't think I got her last name. She follows your blog, loved your book and had nothing but nice things to say about you. No surprise. She flies a 767 for Swift.
DeleteI was just passing through BNA on the first RT of a three day out of DFW. Again, sorry I missed out on all the fun, but I had fun getting to talk to some of the participants.
Thank you so much!! I can find her now. Ah.... so sweet. Yes, sorry you missed the fun. Next time for sure.
DeleteThat's outstanding advice! Looks like it was a great conference. Best of luck to all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. One day you'll have to go with us. :)
