Pilot Burnout

Fatigue and Exhaustion
Resulting in Burnout

The UK DailyMail.Com posted an online article about pilot burnout. (The above photo was from their article) They report:

20% of British airline pilots are 'clinically burnt out',
with over three quarters starting their shifts 'fatigued'
  • Researchers from the Eindhoven University of Technology polled 1,147 UK pilots
  • They found that 20 per cent reported 'clinical burnout levels'
  • They are experiencing 'high levels of exhaustion and disengagement from work'
I found this article interesting in that many pilots have written to me requesting fatigue to be part of my research. While fatigue impacts how pilot utilize automation, the actual fatigue study will be coming next!

Enjoy the Journey!
