Truth. Integrity. Justice.

"You're never wrong to do the right thing!"

For me, that right thing is aviation safety and impacting change. My one wish for aviation will help that goal. Your support is the much needed strength.

 Flight For Control

When truth is scarier than fiction, and fiction mirrors life... all we can do is hope that there is at least one advocate who is willing to take a stand for truth, integrity, and justice.

The stakes are too high to not take action!

As far as safety is concerned, there are people willing to do the right thing despite potential retaliation. In the Flight For novels those people are Kathryn (FAA), Darby (Captain), and Jackie (Fight Attendant).

The solution to safety depends on understanding that safety culture is the foundation of Safety Management Systems (SMS). SMS will improve safety from systemic perspective. But we must have people who are not afraid to do the right thing, no matter what the threats.... or safety culture will only be lip service.

Support is Strength.
You are the wind beneath my wings!

Fasten your seatbelt,

  7. So true. Too often, politics, empires, and corporate culture stand in the way. Safety doesn't fit well on a spreadsheet, but training costs do—sometimes to the determent of the former. I'm not just talking about the airline, but this also extends to manufacturer, regulator, and even the regional culture as well.

Aviation is incredibly safe. But, it is not that way because it is inherently so. It is that way because a lot of dedicated people work very hard every day to make it so.

    1. Bill, Thanks for your comment. What I've learned through my doctoral studies has really opened up how an SMS, lived, can really create the processes (policy), risk mitigation, safety assurance and safety promotion. Aviation is incredibly safe. SMS is being mandated for all Airlines because if done right, it works. But, demands a safety culture. Experts are predicting an increase in the accident rate to an unacceptable level from 2020-2025 due to added complexity of air-based systems (Patankar & Sabin, 2010). Thus the FAA, 2018, SMS mandate for all airlines.

      Thanks for your comment!
