This previous weekend was spent at Aviation Universe for Avfest, where Avgeeks came together to celebrate Richard and Lora Yowell's second year of Aviation Universe.
Everyone had a great time, and the weekend was a huge success. But now it's time for me to get on a flight and head to Seattle. So today... enjoy the photos. But more to come as the week progresses!
My eldest granddaughter, while only six, is tall for her age. She said, "I wish they had footy pajamas in my size." I said, "Of course they do. Come meet my good friend Google."
I accidentally ordered the wrong sizes. When I sent them in for an exchange, I noticed they were a local company... and figured a family operated company. I was right. Located in Gig Harbor Washington, they manufacture and sell footed pajamas retail and wholesale worldwide in over 50 colors, prints, styles & fabrics.
We're waiting for the airplane print... coming soon.
So we decided to do a little fashion show on their behalf. Why? They were so awesome to work with and had no problem with the exchange. And they are a family owned company. I love that.
Their adult pajamas are available with or without the drop seat (bum flap, back door, butt flap:) You'll have to guess to that on mine. Kid's sizing starts at 12 months and adult sizing extends to XL accommodating adults to approximately 6-4 & 240lbs
These pjs have appeared with many celebrities and on many TV shows over the years and as recently as Saturday Night Live earlier last month~ And today they are on Flight To Success!
The FAA is planning a simulator study in OKC on the days of June 9-13 & 16-20. A separate crew - one Captain and one FO is required for each day. The study is open for all A320 and A330 pilots.
The study involves future applications using ADS-B and pilots with experience or familiarity with CDTI (Cockpit Display of Traffic Information) are preferred, but not a disqualifier if you are not familiar. The study will be conducted in the A330 full motion simulator.
You will need to Jump seat or non-rev to OKC the day before your session. The hotel will be set up for you at the Wyndham Garden. The FAA shuttle will pick you up around 0630 the morning of the study. Show time at FAA security is 0700. You will be met and escorted to the simulator building. The task should be completed by noon, but no later than 1:30 PM, and you will be free to depart.
You will receive $425.00 compensation, plus $99 per diem, hotel reimbursement; and airport parking or cab fees, if necessary. Once your date has been established, you will receive detailed information regarding hotel reservations, directions and other logistics.
This, of course, is a non-jeopardy event and your participation is important to future research. You will also be a part of ground breaking changes in the National Airspace System.
Please respond with your seat position, cell number, and day or days you are available. Respond to BTAeronautical@gmail.com.

A Message from Terry:
It is time for the annual Air Race Classic and Team Wild Mama is ready to race. We are doing something a little different this year, however: we are raising money for Aviation Adventures (AA). Many of you know how I became involved in Aviation Adventures. For those who do not recall, this is my work giving back to the community and sharing Mario's dying wish to fly that turned out to be his final gift to me. I am "flying it forward" in his honor and memory.
All money raised from Team Wild Mama donations and sponsorships is going directly to Aviation Adventures, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. You have all been very generous with us in past years. Please find it in your hearts to support us as we work toward AA's goal of raising $25,000 to purchase a Cessna 150 and other program materials so AA can provide FREE flight training and aviation education to youth in the underserved areas. We can take checks (payable directly to Aviation Adventures, Inc.) or we have set up a donation site that will accept credit cards at http://www.gofundme.com/7c7w14.
Aviation Adventures mission: to provide aviation education and career development for disadvantaged youth, especially girls. Emphasizing STEM education concepts, we encourage young people to apply this knowledge in preparation for careers in all aspects of aviation, including clerical, technical, management and pilot careers.
Our programs emphasize using aviation to enhance self esteem, and to promote team building, and leadership training.
Please feel free to share this on social media and with your family, friends and fellow pilots. Help us help those who desperately want to develop their own wings. We are departing FL on or about May 24th for the journey to the race start in Concord, CA. Follow us on www.teamwildmama.com.
Many thanks for your generosity and support, Terry

Last week I had the fabulous opportunity to preview Planes: Fire and Rescue. And while I am unable to share my review at this time, I can tell a little about the movie. I can also tell you that each person involved in the creation of this movie has such passion in what they do, that you want that feeling. Oh wait, I do. But seriously... my next career, I'm working for Disney.
About the Movie:
“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire.
When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting.
Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers.
Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns
what it takes to become a true hero. Directed by Robert Gannaway (“Secret
of the Wings”) and produced by Ferrell Barron (“The Fox and the Hound
2”)"
Mayday has been Propwash Junction's fire and rescue truck forever, with leaky hoses and glasses and all. Jeffrey Howard (who wrote the screenplay and story) said, "Dusty actually sets out to become a firefighter to help Mayday, because he sees that he's still got it."
"Bobs" Ganawy said, "There's so
much sincerity in his (Holbrooks) performance that it makes us all tear up." Such a treat meeting this legend from the big screen.
And then we have the helicopters!
Once again, Disney not only did their research, but they brought in the experts. And what an expert they found in the world renowned Red Bull champion Chuck Aaron, bringing life and accuracy to the Blade, Windlifter and the Chops team. I even learned something about the pivot point of a helicopter as compared to a fixed wing.
Chuck Aaron is going to take me for a flight at Oshkosh!
