Friday's Fabulous Flyer
Red Bull Air Race Superstar World Champion!
And I got to meet him at Oshkosh. He dazzled the young ladies at Women Soar, and guess what he’s reading? You go Kirby!
Oh, and I asked him how much Red Bull he drank daily? I think he said, ‘6’ cans. Yes, he’s well fueled for his shows.
Enjoy the Journey!

Red Bull Air Race Superstar World Champion!
This adrenalin junkie, motorcycle riding, skydiving, and
once upon a time surfer dude from Arizona holds six career wins and we might
say he has more than a passion to fly—It may be close to obsession.
“Chambliss has been
flying since age 13. He became the youngest commercial pilot at his U.S. air
carrier at 24. By the time he made it to captain at 28 he was already polishing
his aerobatic skills, an interest acquired during aerobatic training for his
job flying a business jet. Chambliss has won five U.S. National Aerobatic
championships. He is married to a fellow pilot. They live on the “Flying Crown
Ranch” with their daughter between Tucson and Phoenix – with a hangar and
runway in the backyard.” Red Bull Air Races
When asked what he’d do if his daughter wanted to fly
aerobatics he said, “Try to push her gently away from that.
But if that’s what she really wanted to do, of course I would be the one to
teach her.”
For anyone who has never seen a Red Bull Air Race, check out
this animated 3D video as Kirby explains the finer points of the race. Is this
something you might want to try?
12 G’s! 230 knots max! Meters between wingtips and posts! Amazing.
Enjoy the Journey!

I have seen the Red Bull air races and WOW they are intense. It's hard to picture someone who is so good at that enjoying surfing as well. Now that's diversity, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather, and so very true! I suspect the love comes from that of being a total thrill seeker. He's so awesome.
DeleteFantastic...great inspiration...thanks Kirby, RedBull, and Karlene for kerping us "in the loop" so to speak.
ReplyDeleteHa. Ha. That's pretty funny. You are so welcome. Now go drink your Red Bull and have a great weekend!
DeleteI sure hope this reply works... Kirby is an airshow unto himself; I've seen him fly twice - and I don't doubt his claim of "6 cans." (With two, I'd be stuck to the ceiling and ALL of the chores would be done, twice.) Kirby may well be that Type-A, but when one knows his business and pays attention, constantly, that's just fine. And please - your A330 just does not fly that way; don't even dream about it!
ReplyDeleteAll that aside, you could make a viable blog of just grand-kid pix. All are so perfectly cute and grandma hasa a perfect eye with her camera. All enjoyed, Karleen and thank you. -C.
Okay...
Delete1. No flying the A330 like Kirby. Roger.
2. No drinking 6 cans of red bull for me, or I might fly Airbus like Kirby.
3. Great idea on the family blog! I'm on it!
Kirby is a class act! Thanks for this insight. He one of my favorites. I hope they bring back the races, seemed like they were well done and certainly well received. Must be the economy that put them on a hiatus.
ReplyDeleteHe is for sure! I wonder if there had been an accident? Not sure. This is amazing to watch. But we get to see him at the airshows, so that's great. He's a very wonderful man.
