Due to the overwhelming success of Flight For Control, I have been invited to speak at City University with Zonta of East King County: Advancing the Status of Women Worldwide. And would love for you to join me.

Is our airline industry broken? Is travel safe? Have the stresses of aviation impacted our pilots? What are the underlying struggles with women in a male dominated industry? How much of Flight For Control rings true in our modern day world? I'm looking forward to a great discussion during my first book signing event.

Flight For Control is an aviation thriller with multiple twists and turns, but it's all about control~a central theme to life. But when control impacts the safety of an industry, what can anyone do to keep our skies and passengers safe?

In Flight For Control, Kathryn's search to find the reasons why planes are crashing parallels her internal struggle searching for answers to her past. It takes a strong woman to move beyond her baggage, take a stand against the status quo, and fight for control of her life. Her fight for safety is one that will save lives if she can survive those controlling the industry.

Flight For Control

Frank Van Haste ~ "The world in which Karlene Petitt's debut novel, "Flight for Control", takes place looks very much like our own. It's a world where the airline industry, an important part of the fabric of society, is operating under severe economic and operational pressure...much like it does in our world, but a little...just a little worse.

It's a world where independent agencies like the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) come under the extralegal influence of an increasingly out-of-control Homeland Security complex...to a degree perhaps slightly greater than we see in our world.

And it's a world where good men and women strive ceaselessly against these pressures while seeming never to make progress or see improvement in their personal and professional lives. And where, perhaps, they wind up vulnerable to the schemes of a charismatic and Machiavellian figure who promises drastic action to solve their intractable problems."

Ramiel Migue~ "Flight For Control is an eye-awakening, humoristic, gasp-inducing aviation thriller, that has picked at and tickled my brain unlike any before. It will keep you up at night. The plot revolving around the lives of aviation related individuals gave a sense of belonging, being a commercially licensed, and aspiring airline pilot myself. The character development is immense, especially that of the main protagonist and antagonist, as they continued to shock the reader as the plot thickens beyond solidity. Flight For Control brings insight upon the current status, or status-quo, not only of the airline industry but all of Aviation. Petitt used her years of experience to put suspenseful and informative together and meshed it all in 69 jaw-dropping chapters. I already can’t wait to read the next and/or see it on the big screen! "

Linda Gray
: "Flight for Control is a heart-pounding, bone-shaking aviation thriller that manages to incorporate fun and humor in the broader story, too. The friendships among the women in the book are great, and key to the plot, along with shocking behavior and unsettling revelations by other characters. I think this book will appeal to both men and women. Petitt is a long-time pilot who knows what she's talking about in the world of commercial aviation. You will stay up late reading this book (but you might not want to do that while you're a passenger on an airplane)."

Federico Bossi: "Even if it is the first book by the author, it is definitely a must-read. This is book starts with a crescendo of emotions that could well overwhelm you, if you stop reading there, but the best has yet to come. The plot gets more sophisticated the more you read, while never becoming so absurd to be unrealistic. If you read it in depth you could realize that, while the story is obviously not real, the basic are real (pilot fatigue, overworking, food-stamps salaries, ecc.), and this the real message the book wants to convey. It is a quick read, not because is short, but because you will never want to put it down!"

Jeremy Carlisle: "Karlene, You have just served the most delicious piece of chocolate covered literary cheesecake that I have ever devoured. I hope the motion picture for this novel is near completion and your second novel is well on its way because I am hungry for more! "

I hope to see you on Saturday!
