4th of July : Monday Motivation

“In celebration of all things, I am honored to be part of life and all it has to offer me. Not just for today – but for an eternity.”

Boston July 3, 2011

Could there be a more appropriate place to celebrate the 4th of July than Boston? Last night the crowds gathered at the Oval to listen to the Boston Pops and tonight the city will be celebrating with a grand fireworks display. Me, I'll be flying back to Amsterdam.

While I continue to pursue my dreams, today I celebrate all the people in history that did not settle for anything less than what should be. To all those who were willing to take a stand for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To those who fought for our inalienable rights.  I celebrate all of you walking among the earth today in pursuit of making a difference.

I've been told that one person cannot effect change. But I believe differently.

I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.”
 ~ Edward Everett Hale

Celebrate today and all that the day offers.

Happy Fourth of July

Enjoy the Journey

Yes, what better place than Boston to celebrate our Nation's birthday. And love those Boston Pops.

One person can make a difference, you do. It is an honor to have met you, even if just online.

Be safe in the skies. What a thrill.
God Bless America and God Bless You.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!! How lucky we are!!!!

  5. :-) Be the ONE, and if all the ONE's join up - we become a bigger 'ONE' and our 'ONE-ness' becomes unstoppable. :-) Fly safe!

  6. Once you become an airline pilot, do you still get tested on general aviation and VFR flying, or do you just get tested on the aircraft that you fly?

  10. Ginny, Thank you so very much! I know the honor is all mine. One day we'll meet in person. Yes... one person can make a difference, one step at a time... one flight at a time. Happy 4th!

  11. Capt. Yaw, someone asked two people at an interview: What is one plus one. One of them said, "two." The other said, "what do you want it to be?" The second got the job. But I wouldn't have hired either. i would have hired you. The power in numbers of one is unlimited. Thank you for the great comment!

  12. Hi Jet Airliners, That is an excellent question! And the answer is, once you get hired at the airline we all become tested on the airplane that we fly. No more VRF stuff. But there are some IFR rules that some companies throw into the testing during the flight training portion of recurrent that would be applicable to our flights... we need to know that below 10,000 the speed is 250. Or if visibility minimums go down prior to the outer marker we have to go around. Holding speeds and altitudes... etc.
