The gist of the article is leading a life that has "epic stories" whether stories of success or failures will be a full life regardless. What I find satisfying about what I've done is it's been a path I've chosen consciously and without much external pushing. Even if the choice didn't seem so epic the choice was mine. There's much satisfaction that comes with that no matter the compensation.

My brother in-law is a fantastic artist/craftsman making/repairing classical stringed instruments. He's phenomenally good yet he doesn't charge that much. He likes his clients and they're happy with what he has to offer. He works a schedule that's his. He lives fairly simply.

To me, the fact I'm fairly well regarded in my career is beside the point in what I chose to do (not only that, acknowledging such regard is a bit difficult for me, which is a totally different story). I just wanted to do what I wanted to do. Having a simple focus/objective made a lot of difference to me which is the point of this article.

It's my experience people can do fairly simple things and still have very satisfying and epics stories in their lives. It truly comes down to how you look at it--i.e. perspective--and whether you exercise your own choice when the time comes.

Cheers

TomTom Hillhttp://www.tom-hill.biznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-352377410388410195.post-56650611313276646832013-10-26T12:59:32.362-07:002013-10-26T12:59:32.362-07:00John, what a great comment. I have to...Tom, this is such an inspirational post. I have to tell you that the magic you speak of is true. There is something about the power of knowing our dreams, and having that one simple goal, to make them manifest. I believe we get what we want in this life. If we don't know what we want... either too complicated, to much, or wavering, then our path is unclear.

You need to know where you are going before that path arrives. And you need to make it your own, not another. Thank you so much for another incredible post!!
