  1. The day agencies and brokers waste some time and effort to convince CAA's all around the planet that reacquisiton of recency in a Level D Full Flight Simulator is entirely legal and safe (such as is possible in South Korea), your so often announced "pilot-shortage" crisis will simply vanish. Basically because there is a vast contingent of good professionals that - just because they lost their jobs and stayed more than 12 months without flying a heavy acft - cannot get a job any more. It is pathetic, to say the least.

    1. I'm not sure what you mean by the first part of this comment. But... I did not know you could not get a job being out of the flight deck for 12 months. You just need a current PC. Unless times have changed. If there are professionals who have the experience, time and ability... if they take a recency, should be able to fly. I wish you the best.

  2. Please, first do not misinterpret the following comment.
I have a lot of respect for all the agencies that recruit pilots on behalf of whatever organisation.
But when your profile is not a typical pilot, they cannot do nothing, as they just try to put people in boxes. Now I do not blame them, as they inevitably respond to organisation requirements only.
I always believed they have some opportunities (and power) to promote certain profile because its atypical (and interesting) faces.
    The fact is they cannot.
I am looking for desperately for a pilot position and even though my profile, cannot match with any of the requirements...
It is a desperate and frustrating situation.
    Anyway, as said, no blame.

    1. Frank, I know this is frustrating for you trying to find a job. But, from the company's perspective is there are often requirements that are insurance driven. Trust me, if anyone could pay a pilot nothing without experience and put them in the plane, they would do it. But the reality is, you need hours. Flight Instruct. Build hours. Network. Hopefully you'll figure out how to get hired and will.

  3. Kareen,
    Thanks for the comment.
I have more than 9000 hrs total, more than 3000 on Boeing 737NG, almost 3000 on turboprops, 3000 as Instructor, also TRI on B737.
It is hard to believe I cannot have access to a cockpit...
I can understand almost everything. But I cannot understand this.
Finally, I do not know how to get hired as I do not even pass the shortlist processes.

    1. I'm not sure where you live... if that's a factor... Or why you can't find a job. Do you live in the US? Do you have a college degree? Maybe you should contact someone like Alan, and ask if they could look at your resume and ask why you do not qualify.

But as I say this, I know that many foreign countries are looking for A320 experience. Perhaps nobody is hiring for 737? Not sure. But good luck!!

    4. Frank, we worked together in Indonesia. The reason you can't find a job, you know it...you are unable to be upgraded due to flying skills well below average. Be honest with yourself.
